Sacred Kernow Wheel of the Year A4 Print
Sacred Kernow Wheel of the Year Fine Art Print
Original artwork by Laura Welsh, commissioned for Sacred Kernow
This beautiful Wheel of the Year was lovingly hand-painted by Laura Welsh, a member of the Sacred Kernow community, as a visual celebration of the seasonal cycle that guides so much of our work together.
The wheel follows the eight festivals of the Celtic year - Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lammas, Mabon and Samhain - woven through a distinctly Cornish lens. Each section contains symbols, plants, creatures and imagery connected to the land of Kernow and the changing energies of the seasons. From the returning light of Imbolc and the blossoming promise of Ostara, to the abundance of Lammas and the ancestral wisdom of Samhain, the wheel reminds us that life moves in cycles rather than straight lines.
I commissioned this piece because Sacred Kernow was founded on the belief that women, like the land itself, are cyclical beings. In a world that often asks us to keep producing, striving and pushing forward, the Wheel of the Year offers a different rhythm, one that honours growth and rest, action and reflection, blooming and composting. It invites us to remember that every season has its gifts and medicine.
Over the years, Sacred Kernow circles have gathered women around these seasonal thresholds to share stories, learn from the old traditions, reconnect with nature, and honour the wisdom of our own lives. This wheel has become a visual representation of that journey: a map of the year, a celebration of Cornwall and a reflection of the community we have created together.
May it bring a little of the magic of the seasons, the beauty of Cornwall and the spirit of Sacred Kernow into your home.
